When my three-year-old niece asked her father, where his father was he replied “he’s working far away”. With the truth being that our father was estranged from our family for nearly two decades, my niece then asked “Is he? What planet is he on?” Of course, we did’t actually know. 

Blurring reality, nostalgia and mythology, this project uses found photographs from my parents’ wedding day and immediately after, before having children. It transposes the family album from intimate moment to social record as private memories become a kind of documentary evidence, in keeping with mid-20th-century Ufology.
